E' stato impegnativo, serio, per nulla reale, ma in qualche modo, "Hawaii Five-0" è diventato parte indelebile di questo ambiente tropicale.

Dal 1968 al 1980, ha dominato il genere delle serie TV poliziesche anche se ha offerto una visione dell'isola che non è mai stata vicina alla realtà, ma è stato sempre divertente da vedere. Grazie all'esposizione che il drama della CBS ha dato loro, gli abitanti delle Hawaii hanno mostrato la loro differenza etnica. Se i dialoghi erano un pò artificiali o i discorsi travisati, nessuno sembra ricordarlo.
Domani, la CBS pianifica di combattere la nostalgia e iniziare a filmare il pilota del moderno remake di "Five-0". Potrebbe essere un compito scoraggiante --- molto è cambiato nei 30 anni trascorsi dalla fine della serie.

CITY LIGHTS

PRIMA: La sequenza iniziale originale di "Hawai Five-0" offriva l'idea di un luogo che era contro gli stereotipi, ma probabilmente restava esotica per i telespettatori di ogni dove tranne del luogo.

Nemmeno dopo una decade da quando la serie è iniziata, le Hawaii subiscono un cambiamento verso un moderno stato tropicale. Si dotano di uno skyline [profilo dei grattacieli e palazzi della città contro l'orizzonte n.d.t.], un senso d'innocenza e una corrente sotterranea di pericolo.

DOPO: Brett Wagner, il regista che scrisse e diresse l'acclamato corto "Chief", ha detto che un'introduzione aggiornata --- una che è più veloce ma semplice --- potrebbe funzionare meglio per la CBS.


"Hawai Five-0" è molto più inerente all'urbana Honolulu che ai turisti abbigliati di ghirlande o di panorami costieri," ha detto. "Poche belle riprese regoleranno il set, ma vorrei soprattutto focalizzarmi sulle persone --- sullo spettro di volti e stili che definiscono la cultura della strada di quest'isola.

"ANNOTALO DANNO"

PRIMA : Il detective Steve McGarrett è stato il volto stoico di "Hawaii Five-0", un poliziotto così quadrato, faceva tutto attraverso il manuale, a partire dal nodo della sua cravatta.

Piuttosto, Danny Luis, un supervisore del Ron's Performance Center, suggerisce la Chevrolet Camaro 2010. E' una bestia sexy, con 426 cavalli e tecnologia Bluetooth.

"Appare veloce" dice Luis. "E penso che presto ci saranno poliziotti nella vita reale che la guideranno. Non possono usare una Corvette. Una Corvette può essere troppo poco."


UOMO VESTITO ATTILLATO

PRIMA : Se l'unità "Five-0" sembrava un pò formale, prendetevela con l'abbigliamento. Nel periodo in cui il il fashion poliestere del 1970 invitava gli uomini a vestirsi con agio e comodità nella mente, McGarrett e il suo gruppo anti-crimine spesso inseguivano i cattivi ragazzi con i colletti abbottonati al collo.

Ovviamente, McGarrett a volte indulgeva in lunghe camicie hawaiaine, colori chiari, ampi colletti e zampe d'elefante. Era agghindato di giorno, anche quando indossava una ghirlanda di garofani.

DOPO : "L'abbigliamento Aloha tempo fa diventò l'uniforme scelta praticamente da tutti quelli che lavoravano professionalmente nelle Hawaii," dice Andrew Reilly, un professore assistente al Programma di Produzione di Design e Merchandising dell'University of Hawai'i-Mānoa. "Indossate una camicia Aloha con un disegno classico insieme a jeans o khaki e McGarrett avrà il suo stile."

Book Him: That sigh of relief you heard? That’s from Alex O’Loughlin fans, finally getting the word this week that their hero has signed to be the new Steve McGarrett in CBS’s long-in-development remake of Hawaii Five-O. (Daniel Dae Kim will stick around in Hawaii after Lost wraps to play Chin Ho.) Third time should be the charm for O’Loughlin. I’m not a big fan of remakes, but this one makes sense if done right. I’d like to do that.

Based on the early ratings, that may be the least of CBS’ worries. Three Rivers debuted last night with a disappointing 9.17 million viewers and a 2.0/5 rating/share among adults 18-49. It ranked in a distant third place in total viewership and a distant fourth place in the all important demographic.

Three Rivers retained a little more than 70% of its lead-in audience and, in the same timeslot last year, Cold Case brought in almost two million more viewers.

Based on typical ratings trends, even fewer people can be expected to return next week. If you look at it that way, Three Rivers’ life expectancy doesn’t look very good.

AUSSIE leading men are an uncomplicated lot. Those were the thoughts of CBS vice president of casting Matt Skrobalak on our recent successes in Hollywood.

His comments followed the announcement that little-known Australian actress Amber Clayton would join fellow Aussie Alex O'Loughlin in the much-anticipated medical drama Three Rivers.

"Alex is massive at the moment. You only have to go online to see that there's a million fans out there,'' Skrobalak said.

"I think the Aussies are rugged, and, yeah, a bit blokey and that's definitely working for them.

There was some serious block voting going on when it came to this guy, but, to be fair, fans of all shows were equally entitled to block vote. Who are we to censure votes just because Moonlight fans got their act together and Blood Ties fans didn’t? Besides, think through the logic: if fans are avid enough to want to mobilize a voting campaign, what does that say about the guy they’re voting for? That he’s popular, basically. Ipso facto, he’s earned his place in the top 10, fair and square (though we’re glad he didn’t beat Christopher Lee).

Mick St. John is private investigator in modern-day Los Angeles who also just happens to be a vampire. (Hey, maybe he should form some kind of union with Angel; the Vampire Private Investigators Regulatory Executive – or VamPIRE.) He was sired around 60 years ago by his wife, Coraline, on his wedding day, which is one Hell of a way of consummating a marriage. But he’s not really confortable with the traditional vampire lifestyle and refuses to hunt women, children or innocents, and rejects the idea of treating humanity as just a quick snack.

After his disastrous nuptials, he’s understandably not keen on pursuing any romantic avenues for a while, but things change when he “bumps into” internet reporter Beth Turner. Bumps into in inverted commas, because he’s actually been stalking her since she was five, when he rescued her from his ex-wife… but let’s not go there. It’s all a bit creepy.

Why’s he so popular? The looks, the charm, the conflicted nature. He’s Edward Cullen for the mature woman, though a lot more eloquent (then again, there are sea sponges more eloquent than Edward Cullen). It’s like all the things that make vampires sexy have been distilled into one character. Which reminds us of another character… called Angel. Is it any coincidence that Angel co-creator David Greenwalt (in that he both co-created the show Angel and indeed the character Angel back in the early days of Buffy) was also one of the original showrunners on Moonlight? Short answer – no.

CBS to revamp new drama 'Three Rivers'

Don't you just love the TV development cycle? The networks rush all spring to cast and complete pilots to present them to advertisers in May and then spend all summer retooling many of them before launching them in the fall.

CBS has decided to shoot its new medical drama, "Three Rivers," at Paramount Studios instead of the Pittsburgh hospital where the first pilot was filmed. Created by Carol Barbee ("Jericho"), the drama is set in a preeminent transplant hospital and centers on the lives of the organ donors, the recipients and the healthcare workers who care for them. Each story is told from those three points of view.

The show is set at the Three Rivers Center for Transplant Medicine, evidently housed in the David Lawrence Convention Center, which is used both for some exterior and interior shots.

There's chatter about doctors attending a football game between the Steelers and the Cleveland Browns and one famous local restaurant gets name-checked when the hospital's new transplant coordinator, Ryan Abbott (Christopher J. Hanke), presumably a newcomer to Pittsburgh, too, is schooled by Dr. David Lee (Daniel Henney), who gives his order for food to take on a trip to pick up organs for transplant.

From What We've Seen: Are we actually looking forward to "Three Rivers"? I'm not so sure, but it didn't seem fair to leave CBS out of this list entirely, so I cut yet another ABC show that I wasn't really *all* that excited for ("Fast Forward") and added "Three Rivers," because... well.. I know some people are looking forward to Alex O'Loughlin's return to primetime with the white-hot passion of at least 20 or 30 suns. O'Loughlin looks suitably cast as the bad-boy surgeon-with-a-soul, but in the clips, he's frequently upstaged by "The L Word" veteran Katherine Moennig. The rest of the cast, including "Wolverine" alum Daniel Henney, Justina Muchado and Julia Ormond, is also solid. The presentation clip was surprisingly emotional and melodramatic, which isn't necessarily CBS' stock-in-trade, so we'll see how they do with this show

Three CBS drama pilots moved closer to a series pickup Saturday when the network gave the projects a green light to start making offers to writers and directors.

The “NCIS” spinoff, “Three Rivers” and “The Good Wife” are all from sister studio CBS TV Studios.

Approval to start hiring as a precursor to a series order became very popular in the past few years as the networks used it to give newly picked series a head start.

Gli ascolti non sono stati quelli sperati 13,6 milioni rispetto al 13,7 della scorsa settimana.
Le ipotesi sono molte, tra le quali anche una delle serate finali di Americal Idol. In tutta sincerità speravo che i fan di America si unissero tutti, ma invece pare non sia stato possibile.

Eravamo certi che questo messaggio sarebbe arrivato. I finished Three Rivers and landed the role in Jennifer Lopez' new film The Back Up Plan, which I have been madly working on preparing since I got back from Pittsburgh.
It is very exciting news about this film, and I think it will be a really good thing for me but it does mean I am going to have to miss out on other things. One of these being the Star Fury event in London which I was looking forward to very much.
I really wanted to reach out to anyone who was going to come and say hello to me there.
